Foreword

Firstly, we are so happy to welcome you to The Tower Theatre and our production of Come From Away!

The original concept of this musical was conceived by Michael Rubinoff who turned to Irene Sankoff and David Hein to help create this show for Sheridan College's Music program, and from there the show very quickly attracted much interest, moving to Broadway, then to the West End and around the world.

I will never forget the first time I watched this production; it was February 2022 and I had no idea what to expect. After the opening number, I was crying with the sheer feeling the show gave me and since then I have been in love and believed strongly it would be a fantastic production for FHODS. I hope you go away feeling the same way I did so many years ago.

For many of us, we can remember where we were on 11th September 2001, but I had never considered the experiences of those people referred to in this production. It's particularly amazing that all the characters in this show are either completely real or an amalgamation of a couple of people, with many of the songs using the actual comments made by the original people. What is also so special about this show is how 'community' is so intrinsic to it, with all of them dropping everything in order to help in such a key time. This feeling is really highlighted in the cast choices for the show, with everyone taking on multiple roles throughout.

I would like to thank my fantastic team for their hard work with this production. It has been a proper family affair, with my brother being the most amazing Producer and my husband not only musically directing this so beautifully, but also playing in the band. It is also so exciting to have a live band for this production, using local musicians from the area. Everyone's commitment and dedication to this production has been inspiring and I couldn't have put this show together without them. I would also like to thank my cast, whose dedication to make these characters' voices heard so authentically is what will make this show so successful!

We really hope you enjoy our production and we look forward to welcoming you again for our other productions this year; Love From a Stranger in November and of course, our annual pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk in December.
