FHODS Archive:What is an article?

What is an article?

An article is any page in the FHODS Archive that contains encyclopedic information about a topic relevant to FHODS — its productions, members, history, venues, and related subjects.

A well-written archive article should:

  • cover a clearly defined and relevant topic
  • summarise that topic accurately and thoroughly
  • be written in a clear, neutral, encyclopedic style
  • be well copyedited
  • reference reliable sources where possible
  • link to and from other related articles within the Archive

Most articles consist of text and images, though some may be structured as standalone lists or tables — for example, a cast list for a production, or a chronological index of shows. These are still considered articles.

What isn't an article?

The following pages exist within the Archive but are not articles:

  • redirect pages
  • talk/discussion pages
  • category pages
  • user pages
  • templates
  • help and guidance pages

Article quality

Articles vary in depth and completeness. Some will be comprehensive, fully sourced entries; others may be stubs — short placeholder articles awaiting further development. Both are valuable: a stub is a starting point, not a failure.

A note on scope

Every article should have a clear scope — what it covers and what it doesn't. When in doubt, ask: would this information help someone understand FHODS, its people, or its work? If yes, it belongs here.
