Foreword
Welcome to The Tower Theatre.
We are delighted to welcome you to The Tower Theatre, and FHODS' second musical production of 2023, Stephen Sondheim's musical masterpiece, Sweeney Todd.
Sweeney Todd holds a special place in my heart. This unique musical concoction — part Greek tragedy, Opera, gorgeous, disgusting and delicious pie — was the first musical I saw on stage at the age of 11, and helped ignite a passion in theatre that has ultimately led to this production today. Of course, with a more demanding production comes more challenges for staging, and I would like to thank the amazing cast, that have worked tirelessly and diligently throughout the entire production. There's also the fantastic crew, who have had to bring this Victorian penny dreadful to life, along with razor blades, trap doors and more than a touch of fake blood!
One last group I would like to thank is you, the audience. We are only able to direct, act, sing, design and everything else in the theatre because of you. Your support for our theatre is amazing, and I thank you all. So, sit back, but don't relax... because isn't that Sweeney beside you?
