The Folkestone-Hythe Operatic and Dramatic Society's Youth Section presented Dare to Dream Jr., a musical revue published by Disney, on 24th - 25th April 2026 at The Tower Theatre, Folkestone. An amateur production presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International.

Synopsis

Disney’s Dare to Dream Jr. is a 60-minute musical revue that follows an eager group of trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio. As the group sets out to help each other discover their dreams, they work together to explore the power of dreams to unite, inspire, and make anything possible. Drawing from a century of beloved Disney films, Dare to Dream Jr. features songs appearing for the first time ever in a Disney stage musical, including fan-favorites from The Princess and the Frog, Coco, Encanto, and Frozen II. This musical revue is a thrilling mix of contemporary songs, timeless classics, and brand-new medleys that are sure to surprise and delight Disney lovers of all ages.

Designed specifically for today’s young performers and full of opportunities for ensembles big and small, Dare to Dream Jr. turns a century of Disney magic into a theatrical celebration of music, creativity, and the dreams that live inside us all.

Foreword

Welcome to The Tower Theatre, and thank you for coming to support the Youth Section's production of Disney's Dare to Dream JR.

Disney has always had a special place in my heart, so much so that we named our cat Disney! So when the opportunity to direct Disney's Dare to Dream JR. arose, I just had to do it! The show is a celebration of 100 of Disney, including songs as far back as 1937 with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, all the way up to 2021 with Encanto.

It's a feel-good musical following a group of trainee imagineers, discovering their dreams, making friends and inspiring others. The group have worked so hard over a short space of time, and they never fail to astound me with their commitment, dedication, passion and talent.

There are certain people I really need to thank - Andy, my long-suffering husband and MD, Steve, for being there every week without fail to support and assist us, Lottie for her extensive hard work choreographing and teaching, and to all the parents and carers, for allowing me to borrow their children every week! Thanks also must go to Karen Prineas and her team of Chaperones, without who the show wouldn't be able to go ahead, and to you - the audience for coming to watch this production.

I hope you enjoy the show as much as we have, and leave the theatre with hope, joy and dreams in your heart (cheesy I know, but it is Disney!).
